🔹 Title: Ice Planet Barbarians
🔹 Author: Ruby Dixon
🔹 Genre: Romance/Sci-Fi
🔹 Tropes: Fated Lovers, Opposites Attract, Damsel in Distress
🔹 My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨Synopsis

A group of humans are stranded on an ice planet after being abducted by aliens. The main character, Georgie, crosses paths with a tall brooding blue alien who helps her survive on the deadly planet in hopes of finding others and getting back home!

💭 My Thoughts:

🔸 Writing Style: The writing style was very casual, which has always been my favorite when reading first-person stories because it allows the reader to know the main character’s personality and what motivates them.
🔸 Characters: I do wish the characters were more thought out. We don’t learn a whole lot about the characters but then again, this is a romance about a human falling in love with an alien so I wasn’t expecting a ton of worldbuilding and a biography about the character. I don’t think learning more about the characters would have changed my rating, but it would have made me a little bit more invested in their stories.
🔸 Romance: This story definitely had SPICE! I will say though, if you don’t like stories that start off with spice right off the bat, then this may not be the story for you. But as you learn the alien species, it makes sense as to why he was immediately attracted to the main character, and with it being a fated lovers trope, having an early sex scene is not surprising. In terms of actual romance, I think we will see more of it in book two since this book was really the main character coming to terms with the fact that she may be falling in love with an alien.
🔸 Plot & Pacing: The pacing of Ice Planet Barbarians is great! It was a quick read – I read the physical copy and also listened to the audiobook and the total read/listening time is 6 hours. You can easily finish it in a day and the pacing keeps you hooked throughout the story because who doesn’t want to find out what happens between an alien and a human on an isolated planet where there is only one bed?!
🔸 Vibes: Ice Planet Barbarians was silly, sexy, odd, and mesmerizing. There were lots of references to Star Wars which made me giggle and it helped to also picture the planet.

💕 Who Would Love This Book?
If you like testing the boundaries and reading about odd pairings, then I recommend Ice Planet Barbarians. It is weird, I will admit that! But you have to go in with an open mind and already be some kind of a freak to understand the appeal! Also, if your “hear me out” is anything odd or out of the ordinary then, you should just admit it and read about humans boning aliens.
